JUVÉDERM® Injectable Gel - ULTRA AND ULTRA PLUS

What is it?
JUVÉDERM® is a colorless hyaluronic acid gel that is injected into facial tissue to smooth wrinkles and folds. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring sugar found in the human body. The role of HA in the skin is to deliver nutrients, hydrate the skin by holding in water, and to act as a cushioning agent.

What does is do?
As you age, your skin changes, including it looses HA, which results in facial wrinkles and folds, like those “parentheses” lines around your mouth.
JUVÉDERM® injectable gel replaces the HA your skin has lost, bringing back its volume and smoothing away facial wrinkles and folds.

What makes JUVEDERM® different?
JUVÉDERM® is the first smooth-consistency HA gel and the only HA filler that’s FDA approved to last up to a year. This is due to an innovative manufacturing process called HYLACROSS technology, which gives Juvederm its unique smooth-gel properties and an optimal gel structure that holds up over time.

How is it used and what will it accomplish?
JUVÉDERM® gel is injected into areas of facial tissue where moderate to severe wrinkles and folds occur, adding volume to the skin and giving the appearance of a smoother surface. The most commonly treated areas are the naso-labial folds, marionette lines, lips and cheeks. The only FDA approved area though is the naso-labial fold.

It is a quick, in-office procedure, and the results are seen immediately. Most patients need one treatment to achieve optimal wrinkle smoothing and the results last up to 1 year.

What are possible side effects?
Most side effects are mild or moderate in nature, and their duration is short lasting (7 days or less). The most common side effects include, but are not limited to, temporary injection-site reactions such as redness, pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching and discoloration.
